The liberation is celebrated exuberantly every year with performances and the liberation parade, a parade of World War II veterans. Normally on May 5, Wageningen is thus by far the liveliest city in the Netherlands, but during the rest of the year there is also plenty to do. The university town in Gelderland has about 40,000 inhabitants, many of whom are students who provide a lot of fun. In the compact center you will find plenty of tasty addresses for a bite to eat and a drink. There is also plenty to see and do in the beautiful surroundings of Wageningen. The city is beautifully situated on the Lower Rhine, between the Betuwe and the Veluwe and close to the Utrechtse Heuvelrug.
